"The Poacher's Pocket" 4.30pm, Saturday 20th March 1999
'The Poacher's Pocket' is a little pub / restaurant in Bridgnorth, Shropshire (about 25 minutes from our house), and it's one of out locals ! - it has a lovely play area for the kids which they enjoy to excess.
On this occasion Byron had gammon, Neil had scampi (it wasn't still alive, regardless of how the photo looks!!) - Christa had steak and kidney pie, and I had chicken and bacon melt - too nice !!!
Some information on Bridgnorth-
Bridgnorth's Low Town clusters around the crossing of the River Severn, while its picturesque High Town, with the remains of a Norman castle, stands 60 metres (200 feet) above the river. The two parts of the town are connected by steps and alleyways and by a venerable funicular railway. In the middle of the high street is the half-timbered town hall, a 1652 replacement of its predecessor which was burnt down in the Civil War. There are plenty of other timber-framed buildings as well as some fine Georgian houses in brick. The town is particularly proud of the castle tower, which leans even further than the tower in Pisa.
